Diana Prola is a retired educator with 40 years’ experience in schools, having taught every grade from first through junior college. She has an elementary credential and secondary credentials in English, Social Studies, Math and Cross-cultural, Language, and an Academic Development (CLAD) certificate; as well as an Administration and Supervision Credential. In addition to classroom instruction, Diana has also worked as a high school activities director and as an elementary/middle school principal. She earned her Bachelors degree from University of California–Berkeley and holds a Master's Degree in English from California State University Hayward.

Diana has lived in San Leandro for 31 years. She and her husband San Leandro City Council member Jim Prola have three children. She has served on the City's Human Resources Commission, is currently the Treasurer of the San Leandro Art Association, and an elected member of the Democratic Central Committee.

“My goals for the School Board include improving our high school graduation rate,” says Diana, “and improving communication between the Board, the administration, the staff, the public and business communities.”

Deeply concerned about the hits to education during times of fiscal crisis, Diana emphasizes, “Finally, I am committed to finding our way through the State’s budget morass that threatens to destroy public education. I will work to provide responsible financial leadership, protect our employees and to provide our children access to a world-class education.”

Diana has been listed eight times in Who's Who in American Education, has served as a local California Teachers Association (CTA) representative and officer, and has served on the CTA State Council for six years. She has published articles in various education journals, including the NEA Journal and the NJEA Review, and has presented workshops at the California Reading Association Conference, the California Elementary Education Association Conference, and the CTA Good Teaching Conference.
