Evelyn and her husband, Juan moved to San Leandro in 1992.They have four children who have attended San Leandro public school. Two sons are attending college and a son and daughter are attending San Leandro High School. Evelyn has been an active member of the community serving on many non-profit boards and serving as a city commissioner. Evelyn has a B.S. in Biology and a M.Div. She worked for nine years as a cytogenetic technologist and eight years as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Oakland. She has been a strong advocate for public education and is eager to work with teachers, staff, administrators, parents, and community members to help SLUSD achieve its true potential.
