The San Leandro Unified Board of Education took steps in December to better align our graduation requirements with Education Code and University of California A-G requirements. Starting with the class of 2021, students will now be required to take one course in a visual or performing args AND one course of world language. Previously, it was one course in visual or performing arts OR one course of world language.
There are a couple other small changes that do not affect the classes students take, but are noteworthy: There was a name change of the “Practical Arts” requirement to “Technical Arts” to reflect our current course offerings that meet this requirement. Also, the one semester Health and Safety course has been removed from the graduation requirements. However, all students must still meet the requirements of AB 329 and all incoming 9th graders to San Leandro High School will still take the semester long Health and Safety course to meet this requirement.
