Starting in January 2016, the secondary English Language Arts (ELA) departments from Bancroft Middle, John Muir Middle, and SLHS began a process to adopt a new state adopted English Language Arts program for grades 6-12.  The adoption committee teachers, representing the ELA, Special Ed, and ELD departments, are piloting two programs during this period.  Springboard, published by the College Board, and StudySync, published by McGraw-Hill, include Core ELA and Designated ELD units of instruction.  The committee concluded its work in January 2017, and developed a report that ranks and analyzes the two programs.  The report will now go to the District Office, the SLUSD Board Curriculum Committee, and onto the SLUSD Board of Education.
