the technical and academic skills needed to attain and maintain high-skill, high-demand careers. In addition to technical training and career foundations, these courses also offer a wide range of additional educational benefits, including critical thinking development, technical literacy, public speaking skills, leadership development, and planning/organization skills. Career Technical Education courses are taught by highly qualified CTE credentialed teachers. All SLHS incoming 9th graders will begin their college and career pathway by completing the semester long College and Career Seminar course. After 9th grade, students who choose a CTE pathway will have the opportunity to participate in work-based learning opportunities, such as internships, job shadows and industry tours that will support personalized real world learning. Many courses in CTE also provide early college credits that have been articulated with local community colleges. Students who complete a CTE pathway also can earn industry recognized certifications.
