San Leandro High School remains committed the ongoing growth and improvement of our Advanced Placement offerings by adding AP Computer Science Principles and AP Environmental Science to its AP course offerings.
AP Computer Science Principles covers the Seven Big Ideas of computing: Creativity, Abstraction, Data and Information, Algorithms, Programming, the Internet, and Global Impact. Students explore these concepts with a primary emphasis on programming, using Snap!, where students learn programming logic and major concepts without the complexity of the syntax of a specific language (Snap is based on Javascript). Students use use their knowledge of mathematics, English language arts, and the arts to create their own applications, animations, and games. Additionally, after not offering AP World History for the 2016-17 school year due to last minute staffing changes, SLHS plans to offer AP World History in addition to all other currently offered AP courses.
Note regarding AP World History: After not offering AP World History during the 2016-17 school year, we expect to offer AP World History in addition to all regularly offered AP courses.
