NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) announced this year’s young business winners at the 13th annual NFTE National Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, one of which was San Leandro’s own Simone Hufana. The former San Leandro High School pirate took home the top prize in the E2 competition: $10,000 in seed capital to build her business, “Color Her Story”, which is an educational, interactive coloring book focused entirely on influential women of color. Visit her website at https://colorherstory.shop/ to see this and other products she has developed.

The NFTE competition was presented by Citi Foundation and Ernst & Young on October 11th in New York City. Nearly 20,000 students across the U.S. compete in NFTE's annual Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge. Hufana was also a winner last year in Marshawn Lynch’s first ever “BEASTMODE-A-Business” competition, where she won the opportunity for her product to be featured in a pop-up shop at the Lynch’s Beast Mode Apparel store. During her time at SLHS, she was a member of the San Leandro Academy for Business and Finance. SLUSD congratulates Ms. Hufana for her hard work!
