June 28, 2016 -- The San Leandro Unified School District (SLUSD) Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, to put a $104 million dollar bond measure on the November ballot to fund critical school facility upgrades and improvements.

Nov. 17, 2015 -- Vince J. Rosato, a trustee of the San Leandro Unified School District Board of Education and a retired master teacher from Union City’s New Haven Unified School District, recently completed the California School Boards Association (CSBA) Masters in Governance (MIG) program.

School District Approves Living Wage for All Employees
Nov. 10, 2015 -- The San Leandro Board of Education approved a living wage for all workers in the District at its monthly meeting this evening. All workers employed by the District will now be making a minimum of $15 an hour. The lowest paid staff in the District will benefit the most from this change, with some wages rising from $10 an hour to the new minimum of $15 an hour. The agreement was ratified by members of the California School Employees Association (CSEA) on November 5, and was brought to the Board of Education for final approval.

SLUSD Offers PSAT to All Sophomores
Oct. 14, 2015 -- All 10th grade students at San Leandro High School took the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) for free today. Historically students have had to pay to take the exam, which typically costs $15. This year, 672 sophomores took the exam versus 116 last year when students and families had to pay for the exam themselves.

San Leandro Unified School District Releases CAASPP Results
Sept. 8, 2015 -- San Leandro Unified School District announced today the release of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASP) testing results. These tests were administered in the spring of 2015 to students in grades 3-8 and 11 and are aligned to the Common Core Standards. They are intended to measure student progress toward college and career readiness.

Suspension of CAHSEE Diploma Requirement for Eligible Seniors in the Class of 2015
August 28, 2015 -- Senate Bill 725 (Hancock) was signed by the Governor and chaptered into law on August 26, 2015. This law suspends passage of the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) as a condition for receiving a diploma of graduation for a student who has met all other high school graduation requirements in school year 2014-15.

Superintendent McLaughlin Welcomes Staff for 2015-2016 School Year
Aug. 17, 2015 -- Early Monday morning Superintendent, Dr. Mike McLaughlin, welcomed back more than 800 employees of the San Leandro Unified School District for the 2015-16 school year. Those in attendance at the San Leandro High School gymnasium were greeted to smiling faces and warm welcomes from coworkers, who have been away for the summer months.
