Over 75 Students Complete SLUSD Summer Internship Program

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Over 75 students completed the annual Summer Internship 101 course offered through the San Leandro High School Career Pathways program and the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce. Since the program’s inception, increasing numbers of high school students are taking advantage of the opportunity to get academic credit through real-world experience at local job sites and receive industry mentorship from local companies in San Leandro and the greater Bay Area. “I really want to commend the students and the participating businesses for making this program so successful,” said SLUSD Program Coordinator Lisa Jackson, “These students have spent their summer experiencing authentic college and career readiness opportunities that will truly prepare them for life after high school.”

 

Students were placed with local businesses such as Pinx Catering, San Leandro Boys and Girls Clubs, San Leandro Educational Foundation, City of San Leandro, OSIsoft, The Marina on the SF Bay, Spectrum Community Services, Blue Arris, Girls Who Code, San Leandro Hospital, San Leandro Pediatric Dentistry, Community Impact Lab, Principled Academy, MID Labs, EBMUD, Alta Bates, and DAJA.  The Summer 2019 Internship recognition was held on July 25th.
