The focus of the elementary A.P.E. curriculum is for students to gain a further understanding of how they move within their environment.  This is achieved through a movement-based physical activity curriculum which emphasizes movement patterns, manipulative skills, and physical fitness concepts.  This is taught to the students through physical activities, skill drills, and games.  The curriculum is structured in a way which initially builds individual skills, and then incorporates those skills into partner and group games.  Positive behavior, teamwork, and cooperation are all social components of the A.P.E. curriculum as well.  The elementary A.P.E. curriculum was developed using the California Physical Education Content Standards Framework.
