Announcement for Week #7 Health 9, Home Learning, May 4-May 8

*All student work is now being graded Pass/Inc.

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Week #7 of HomeLearning! 5 topics below:

1. The Sexual Health Unit is starting this week, for 4 weeks, May 4-May 29.

We sent you a Parent Notification Letter via Parent Square on Mon. April 27 with a link to a private Google Classroom we created specifically for you to review the 3R’s Sexual Health virtual curriculum which we announced will be starting this week.  (The program also has Grades 5-6, Gr.8 Programs). Please read the letter sent to you via Parent Square 4/27 from Health Teachers to get the information to access the curriculum, which has guidelines and important information to read before your child starts the unit.   https://www.parentsquare.com

2. Support: We are sharing with you two special documents called Student Support Services- Quick Links-7th grade+ and Student Support Services Full List for both students and families for your reference. We will be posting it daily to Google Classroom for students to access there. For example, our Peer Health Educators created an amazing site for resources and questions that is interactive too, called “Lets’ Talk: Your Health”.

I encourage you to take the opportunity during the Sexual Health unit to discuss this topic with your teen as it feels appropriate, as it can sometimes be challenging to navigate this topic between parents and teens. Be sure to use the resources to find ways to check in and connect.

3. Grading Adjustments: I will explain the changes to clarify some oddities in both Aeries and Google Classroom that have been confusing, but are now all sorted out. I will explain live to students Monday and Tuesday during their scheduled class hour (in the suggested block schedule we were given, also on the SLHS website).  This will be the last LIVE Zoom Class Meeting until the last week of school June 1-4.  During the Sexual Health unit, we will only have recorded messages to students due to the privacy issues of teaching this topic virtually.

4. Zoom Class Meetings this week: I posted a sign-up list for the meetings to Google Classroom on Friday. If students do not register on the sign-up list (by full name), and do not attend, (read: sleeping in!), they will need to listen to the Screencast Audio announcement I created and will post to Google Classroom Monday May 4 BEFORE they begin ANY lessons.  I hope they can attend LIVE so we can also connect and see the smiles :) The meetings are 25 minutes for each class. Students may always e-mail me and sign up for an office hour with me 1:1 or phone me.

5. Connecting for Fun and…..connection!: On Friday, I shared a link for students to join the Remind App so we could  send messages more efficiently during this last unit. They will need to sign up; https://www.remind.com/join/fe969bk.  Ms. Stanley 👍🏋🏼‍♂️🌎☀️🥦🤸🏽‍♀️👏
