Announcement: New assignments for this week, April 6-10

Mon. April 6, Week #3 of Home Learning!

This is an Announcement, posted to our class' Google Classroom, then a post to GC with the assignments will follow! (I also posted the assignments to the SLHS teacher Home Learning Folder). I will keep this post at the top on GC  for this week, April 6-10. Starting next week, ALL assignments will be posted to Google Classroom (as always), so please go there. So on this Teacher page in the future, I will only post a brief message or Announcements.

Greetings my amazing scholars of Health! (and parents).

I hope you are staying HEALTHY in mind, body and spirit. Yes, I DO miss your smiling faces, and shooting hoops, and seeing you rolling into class, but I do NOT miss telling you to remember to "turn off your phones, and put them away!" But I will continue to say, "TURN ON YOUR BRAIN!"If you don't use it, you lose it!".

I went to the classroom last week to gather things (see photos on GC post!); it was so stark and eerie, surreal. I changed the calendar on the board hoping we might come back May 4. But now we all know, we are not retuning in Physical form :( PS: Hedgy the Hedgehog is still missing, can you help return him to the class?)

I decided to NOT grade the Wk #8/9 Daily Q (A#25) that you all turned in that Friday, March 13 before we left. I noted that on Aeries in the description of the assignment. But I DID and will grade the lesson we started that day, and I posted to GC that afternoon to finish it, A#26, "Additives, Chemicals and Preservatives in Foods", so make sure you get to that one and submit it if you can. Or, just read over some of the investigations (links);  the students that did it learned a lot!

Welcome to Home Learning, Week #3, for the JOY of learning! It is the end of our Nutrition Unit, and I was planning to make you all Green Smoothies at the end! Perhaps I will upload a video of how to make them (it is so easy) and you can watch it and try it at home if you have a blender. In the meantime, eat your fruit and veggies! :)

I returned and commented to all of you who submitted work via GC over the last 2 weeks, I applaud you for whatever challenges you had in order to do that. I am so pleased you could do some learning in this challenging time! FYI for Aeries: what I entered for all those non-graded assignments, including upcoming this week, is a "0" (zero) for those that turned it in, blank for those who did not. All I could enter was a "0" without confusing the program, meaning in this case of Home Learning, that I am simply acknowledging that you submitted the assignment. No grade, just acknowledgement. I made a comment, and returned it, as I will this week (and in the future when grading starts Mon. April 13, there will be points assigned). Those that did not do the work, do not worry, hopefully you can just scan the slides, the information, and learn a few things!

This week you can do the 2 lessons WITH YOUR FAMILY! That's right parents, do get involved on these two!

Teachers are busy this week learning new technology to integrate to our lessons, attending on-line webinars, organizing for allof you, so I will continue to post on Google Classroom as I always have, so keep posted! And please be forgiving if things don't always work perfectly! We are all learners, yes, me too! All work will need to be submitted via CLASSWORK where I post it.

If you need to turn anything in late, please e-mail me: ALWAYS put in the subject line: Your FULL name, Period, and a topic (for all correspondence). I am getting many e-mails, and am sorting them by period, Thank you!

I posted the two assignments for this week in the next post, but will keep this announcement at the top for this week.

It's good to be with you.. at least digitally! Enjoy the photos I took when I went back to the classroom last week!

To Health and wellness,

Ms. Stanley
