    All-School Assemblies

    Assembly  

    Check the website for dates for assemblies which take place outside (weather permitting) right after the first bell. Songs are sung, announcements are made, and achievements are recognized at all-school assemblies. Parents are welcome to attend.

     

     

    Box Tops and Labels for Education

    We collect Box Tops and Labels For Education to help bring more money to Roosevelt. We get ten cents per Box Top. It may not seem like much, but these dimes really add up, earning the PTA more than $1,000 last year. Collecting Box Tops is an easy way for us to raise funds because typically they are on items you already purchase. For a complete list of products with Box Tops labels, visit www.boxtops4education.com. Ask your friends, family and neighbors to clip too!

    You can attend Coffee and Conversation with Principal Forrester every first Wednesday of the month from 8:10 to 9 a.m.  in the Teacher’s Lounge. You can ask questions, connect with other parents, and get informed about school activities and events.

     

    Community on the Green

    Picnic  

    Bring the family, a blanket, and your own picnic dinner, and enjoy a lovely fall evening with the Roosevelt Elementary community. Music and entertainment, lemonade, and desserts are provided.

     

     

    Composters / Community Garden

    Before we started our composting program there were more than seven cans of garbage generated at lunchtime, EVERY DAY. Now that we are composting and recycling in Restaurant Roosevelt, we generate only one can of garbage each day, along with lots of wonderful compost material.  Learn More >

     

     

    Dads’ Club

    Roosevelt's Dads' Club is a service organization of parents who supply fun for kids, fundraisers to help the teachers' wish list, and more.  Meetings are often the 3rd Thursday of school month at 6:30.  Come and get involved. Both mom's and dad's, grandparents, and guardians are welcome to join.  President this year is Steve Moore. VP is Ray Hathorn, Secretary is Rob Bae, Treasurer is OPEN
     

    Fall Festival

    This annual event is a special opportunity for school families and members of the community to come together for an afternoon of fun. Past years have included classroom-sponsored carnival games, great food, vendor booths, a bake sale, a dunk tank, entertainment, and more! All students are given a fun pack good for tickets and lunch.

     

    Family Art & Rhythm Night

    Family Art and Music Night is a fun and inspiring evening of art making for the entire family.  Create art to the sounds of a live percussion band.  Popcorn and baked goods are available and proceeds go to the Roosevelt Art Program. 

    Founder’s Day

    An annual PTA sponsored event in March.  We celebrate the PTA founders of past and present.  Recognition awards are presented to individuals for their contributions of time to our school.  An evening dessert social of $5 per person takes place in the evening.
      

    Hobby Night

    This is an opportunity to bring and share your favorite collection or unique hobby with other Roosevelt Hornet families.  Free to all families!  Dads' Club sponsors this fun-filled evening.

     

    Hornet Hustle

    Four times a year - October, December, March, and June - our school community gathers to celebrate who we are.  How do we celebrate?  We sing and dance together.  Primary grade students (First, Second and Third) sing and sign (American Sign Language) songs, and Intermediate students (Fourth and Fifth graders) lead dances for all the enjoy and follow.  Typically from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m., Hornet Hustle is an unique, spirit-raising event not to be missed.

    Multicultural Night

     Pigeon Point
     

    Fourth and fifth grade students have an opportunity to continue learning in the great outdoors.  Camp Arroyo in Livermore is one full day of outdoor adventures available to every fourth grader.  Exploring New Horizons at Pigeon Point on the coast near Pescadero is a 3-day, 2-night adventure available to every fifth grader.

    Reading Academy

    This is our reading intervention program for students who are not reading at grade level.  It helps them improve their fluency and comprehension skills with phonics.  K, 4, 5 grade students attend reading academy during the regular school day.  Grade 1-3 students attend school for an additional hour from 2:15 - 3:00. 

    Restaurant Roosevelt

    The Multipurpose Room (and the outdoor seating area when the weather is favorable) is transformed into Restaurant Roosevelt during lunchtime and restaurant-worthy manners are expected.

     

    Roosapalooza

    A Dads' Club sponsored event, Roosapalooza happens one Friday night in late winter or early spring.  At least one really good band consisting of various Roosevelt dads play often at the Englander.  Proceeds support our marvelous performing arts program.

    School Site Council

    SSC  

    The school site council is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees, and students (at the high school level) that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. The members of the site council are elected by their peers. The School Site council makes decisions on the school budget and the academic or school improvement plan. In addition to academic planning, the school site council also responsible for making decisions about parent engagement, safety and discipline.

    Spring Concert

     
    One Friday in March we feature our 1st - 5th grade students in a delightful vocal music concert.  It is led by our vocal music specialist.  The Roosevelt Choir is also featured in aatire purchased by funds from Dads' Club. 
     

    Teacher Appreciation Week

     Teacher Appreciation Week is an opportunity to show our teachers how much we appreciate the work they do with our children and families.  See your room parents for more details.

     

     
     

    Volunteer Tea

    Near the end of the school year, our staff celebrates all of our wonderful parent volunteers with a lavish spread of finger foods and desserts.  We reminisce about the year gone by and strengthen parent teacher bonds.  Childcare is provided. 

     

    Voces Unidas

     Voces Unidas is a parent advisory group aimed at families whose children have a language other than English as their first language.  The group meets monthly (check newsletter).  The group is responsible for the following:  (1) Advising the principal and staff on programs and services for English Learners (2) Serving as liaisons to and from the District's DELAC (3) Collaborating with other Roosevelt parent led groups and (4) Generating an understanding of the importance of CELDT testing.  Meetings are translated into Spanish.

     Our 4th and 5th grade students participate in a very fun fundraising activity.  Students are asked to join the staff in a 2 mile hike around and around the Roosevelt block.  We walk on the sidewalks that surround Roosevelt School.  Along the way walkers are treated to healthy snacks, water, stickers, music, and encouraging support from the fans that surround the block.  This is a fundraiser so students are asked to find sponsors for their walk and the money is kept in an account to be credited towards their cost of the outdoor education program.

    White Elephant Sale

     PTA/Dads' Club sponsored giant garage sale.  Families donate gently used items to be sold on a Saturday as a fundraiser.  The funds raised are used by the PTA and Dads' Club to support classroom instruction and school activities.
     

    Winter Reading Program

    Keep reading through this busy time!  Children track their reading for six weeks surrounding winter break.  Turn in reading logs to classroom teachers.  Complete the program for prizes and special event tickets.
