    General Information

    The John Muir Middle School library offers a 13,000 book collection with automated check-out system, three card catalog computer stations, a varied magazine collection, an online, networked lab of 36 Chromebook computers, and a virtual reference library of 130 e-volumes--available 24/7--geared toward our middle school curriculum.

    Students are welcome to use the library before school, break, lunch, and after school. An open sign-up arrangement encourages teachers and their classes to utilize the library and its computer lab anytime during the school day when periods are available.

    Reuse Depot

    TEACHERS: Ever wish you had quick access 40 paper egg cartons for a project? Or how about those green strawberry baskets? or what about some toilet paper rolls?
     
    COMMUNITY: Do you find yourself wanting to find a better home for your used yogurt containers? Or your toilet paper rolls?
     
    The library is opening up a materials depot! We have made space to store recycled materials for our student projects. These materials are donated by JMMS community to be used by our TEACHERS here at Muir. 
     
    Here is the list of up-cycled items. You may donate OR use :) 
    • Random clean containers/tubs with lids (sm-med) - ie. yogurt
    • Green strawberry baskets
    • paper towel and toilet rolls
    • shoe boxes
    • cereal boxes
    • corks
    • water bottle tops 
    • egg cartons (paper or styrofoam)
     
    Where? Drop off locations:
    1.  Ms. England's mailbox or in the 'lost textbook box' in the front office box near the mailboxes
    2.  at the library 7:45 - 4:30
    3. Send them down to the library with a student

    2. Open the chrome browser and click on email
    3. Find your email and open your print job
    4. CLICK on print.
    5. View as PDF preview (lower left hand corner)

    Back-to-School Library Update

    Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

    **Starting on Monday, August 21st**
    Library Hours: M-F 7:45-3:20
    Maker-Open Lab: M-Th 3:20-4:30
    *students participating in the Maker-Open lab hours must have a purpose. Individuals who are not working on academics or making activities will be asked to wait in the front of the school. 

    • New course: Maker Lab! 7&8th grade students enrolled in Per. 5 EXPO will learn how to use our library's high-tech Maker Lab

    Library policies: Students are welcome to check out up to three books at one time. Overdue books must be returned/renewed and lost/damaged library books paid for before new books can be checked out

    There is no eating or drinking in the library.

    Computer Use: Students are welcome to use school computers provided it is for school-related work and the District's Acceptable Use Policy--provided at the beginning of the year--has been completed by both the student and parent and is on file. Teacher-approved learning games are permitted at certain times. Inappropriate use of school computers will result in negative consequences.
