Mirette on the High Wire

Mirette on the High Wire Mirette is a girl that is an expert at helping her mother make their guests in the boardinghouse comfortable. One day, a sad-faced stranger named Bellini, a retired high-wire walker, comes to stay. When Mirette goes outside the next day, she finds Bellini walking along the clothesline and is instantly enchanted with the idea of walking up in the air.

Mirette practices trying to walk on the clothes wire herself. She convinces Bellini to train her until she can do all sorts of tricks on the wire. Life is perfect until Bellini's hidden fear drives a wedge between teacher and student. Will Bellini ever overcome his fear? Will Mirette be able to travel and walk the high wire?

This book shows us the importance of following our dreams and not letting fear keep us from them. Courage comes to us all, even retired high-wire walkers.
