Soren is young barn owl who grew up listening to his parents explain owl customs, perform owl rights of passage, and pass down the owl legends--including the Owl Knights of Ga'Hoole. The knights are like any heroes: they fight against evil, protect those that can't protect themselves, help those in need, and do all things good. Soren's life takes a dark turn and he loses his home. He's taken to a place called an orphanage for owls only to discover that the orphanage is full of one horror after another. Soren and his friend want to escape, but how? And what waits for them in the wide Yonder if they do get out? Soren wants to join the Knights of Ga'Hoole and defeat the evil owls in charge of the orphanage, which brings up the biggest question of all: are they even real?
This is a great series that combines adventure and animals in a truly unique way. Readers that enjoyed Erin Hunter's Warriors series will definitely want to give this series a try. And if you simply want to get lost in a good book, read Guardians of Ga'Hoole and join Soren in his big adventures.
