Flying Solo

Flying Solo by Ralph Fletcher Mr. Fabiano's class seems like a normal sixth-grade class. But when he has an emergency and doesn't show up to school, his class is overlooked and never gets assigned a sub. What follows is a day when the class decides to be in charge of themselves. They decide what to work on in class, and when to go to recess and lunch.

It's a story about a kid's dream: being in charge of herself and not having to answer to adults. But it's also a story about doing the right thing--even when no one is watching. Will they get away with it? What will happen if the adults find out? And what will Mr. Fabiano say when he comes back and finds out what they did?

This is a great read for anyone that likes school stories or stories about kids being able to make their own choices. What would you do if you were in charge in class for a day?
