Garfield has a Transitional Kindergarten class taught by Ms. Joffrey. This is a free class for 4 year old children who will turn 5 by December 1st of the school year. Transitional Kindergarten is an optional program but it is highly recommended as it helps prepare students for Kindergarten.
There are three Kindergarten classes at Garfield taught by Ms. Fernandez, Mr. Clark, and Ms. McCockran. Kindergarten is a 3 and 1/2 hour program with a staggered start. Some children attend from 8:10am to 11:40am and others attend from 9:30 to 1:40pm. Those who attend until 1:40pm will eat lunch at school.
Garfield also has a Special Day Class for Kindergarten through 2nd grade students taught by Ms. Steele.
