• McKinley Eagles… Soaring to Success!

    Dear McKinley Parents and Community,

    Welcome Back! I am incredibly excited to begin my fourth year here at McKinley Elementary School! This promises to be a year filled with opportunities for all of our students and families.

    We look forward to a very positive and productive year together!  We extend a special, yearlong invitation to our families to join us at school activities and events whenever possible. We want . . . we need . . . and we value your involvement and support in your child’s education! Your active participation is key to the success of your young Eagles during his/her elementary school years.

    Our first event, will be an Ice Cream Social hosted by PTO on Wednesday, August 8th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. This will be an opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and make new friends. Please see flyer enclosed.  

    We are no longer able to post students by name for safety reasons, so you will need to set up your parent portal in order to see your child’s class assignment. I will send out a message on Remind notifying families when class assignments are visible on the portal.

    All families (returning and new) will need to set up their portal for the current school year, 2018-2019. Information you will need to set up your parent portal will be mailed to you the first week in August. If you need assistance with setting up your parent portal, please feel free to drop by McKinley beginning August 9, Thursday, from 10:00 - 12:00 noon or contact Jennifer Amate, our parent facilitator at 618-4320 x 2916.

    Our enrollment changes throughout the summer time with families moving in and out of the area. It is possible that further class changes might need to be made after school begins to balance class enrollment. We will do our best to keep any changes to a minimum, but student enrollment can vary. Please trust that we have worked diligently to place each child in classrooms based on individual learning style and large grouping needs, combinations of students and student needs. Every effort was made to create classes that are balanced and beneficial to all students. We are not in a position to honor individual requests. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

    The first official day of school begins on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 8:10 AM for all students. Breakfast is free for all students and served at 7:45AM daily.  We will be on an early release schedule from August 15 through August 24th. Dismissal will be at 1:50 PM for 1st – 5th grade classes. TK and Kindergarten classes will be dismissed at 11:40 AM.

    Please know that we highly value home/school communication here at McKinley Elementary School.  It is vital and plays an integral role in each student’s success. We encourage you to contact us if/when the need arises, and to stay in the know about your child’s studies, assignments, assessments, and school activities, as well as other events and happenings.
