For authorized workers:

• Unemployment benefits. File even if you’re not sure you qualify (documented workers only). If your hours were cut, but you still have a job, you may qualify. Gig workers and self-employed workers can qualify. Please note that the new qualifification options are not yet showing up on the state website. HOUSING INFORMATION

Tenants: The City of San Leandro has stopped evictions for nonpayment of rent due to COVID-19 income loss. This may be true in other cities also.  The state of California has now stopped evictions for two months if rent is not paid due to the COVID19 crisis. Renters will need to pay back rent in the future. Be sure to tell your landlord about your situation (in writing) within 7 days of rent being due.

Homeowners: Foreclosures on mortgages secured by the FHA have been paused for 60 days by the federal government. Also, some banks have agreed to pause foreclosures for people affected by loss of income due to the coronavirus. Be sure to contact your bank; don’t just stop paying!
