Fees and Admission

  • English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Education, High School Diploma, and GED Preparation classes are free. Fees for classes in other programs vary according to length and/or type of class. Some classes require the purchase of books or materials. Classes are primarily for adults 18 years or older. You do not have to live in San Leandro to attend. All teachers are credentialed or experts in their fields.

Refunds and Returned Checks

  • No refund of any fees unless a class is canceled. No transfer of fees. No exceptions to this policy, so please select classes carefully. Students will be required to pay for any bank fees associated with returned checks and credit card charges before being allowed to re-enroll in classes on a CASH ONLY basis.

Visitors

  • Visitors are welcome with prior approval from an administrator.

Credit Recovery Students

  • Full-time students from San Leandro High School, Lincoln High School and Lighthouse Independent Study will be allowed to enroll in classes. Juniors and seniors interested in pursuing this option must bring their completed and signed “Permit For Credit Recovery Enrollment 2017-2018” form with a current transcript to the Adult School office at 1448 Williams St. to their scheduled appointment. This is only an option for SLUSD students. No out of district credit recovery students accepted. Credit Recovery students are minors within the K-12 system, so students must be on time and remain in class and not leave early.

Community Interest Programs

  • Classes are self-supporting and taught by experts in their fields. Please do not wait to register. Classes will be shortened or canceled if there are not enough students.

Uniform Complaint Procedure

  • The SLUSD Board of Education has established a Uniform Complaint Procedure. It is available online at www.slusd.us, the District Office or the Adult School office.

Equal Opportunity

  • The San Leandro Unified School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, mental or physical disability, age, gender, or sexual orientation in any of its policies or procedures related to admissions, employment, financial aid, educational services, programs or activities.

Childcare

  • Childcare is available at some sites for children 2.9 years to kindergarten, who are potty-trained. During the evening, childcare may be available for our students’ school-age children (5-12). San Leandro Adult School requires adult learners to volunteer in childcare and parents must be in class at the site while children are in childcare. No minors allowed in classes for adults.

Transcript Policy

  • Transcript requests must be made in writing with original signature. San Leandro Adult School only issues transcripts from our institution. Requests take three to five business days to process. Must present current government issued photo I.D. for example, passport, driver’s license, or state I.D. card to pick up transcripts. We do not photocopy or return transcripts from other schools.

Attendance

  • It is expected that students will attend all class sessions, be on time and remain in class until the class ends. Students who are late or leave early on a regular basis may be dropped. Missing one week of classes is also cause for being dropped. A minimum 20 hours of attendance is required before verification of attendance.
  • THE FOLLOWING ARE PROHIBITED ON CAMPUS:
SMOKING, ALCOHOL, VIOLENCE, USE OF PROFANITY OR THREATS, ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES, WEAPONS, LOITERING, AND LITTERING.
