Wilson Elementary School Site Council Meeting Minutes February 6, 2020

  1. CALL TO ORDER
    1. The meeting was called to order at 3:38 pm by Deanna Pinomaki, Chairperson.
  2. WELCOME
    1. The Chairperson brings greetings to returning members of the School Site Council.
  3. ROLL CALL
    1. Roll call was not conducted.
  4. MINUTES
    1. The minutes were distributed.
    2. The members were given time to read the minutes in silence.
    3. No changes were made to the minutes.
    4. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Wendy Hung.
    5. The motion was seconded by Maurice Gause.
  5. PUBLIC COMMENT
    1. One parent wanted to make an announcement about how the Parent Teacher Committee (PTC) has approved $100 Scholastic dollar funds for all Wilson staff but only 25 out of the 34 teachers have successfully submitted the request. She requested that there is follow-up to find out who the remaining teachers are so they can be directed to reach out to the PTC to update the distribution list and help process those funds. 
    2. One parent wanted to share about the Lunar New Year celebration event that will take place during the morning of Friday, February 7, 2020 coordinated by Coffee Chat families and administration. There will be a golden dragon visit and “parade” through the school and red envelopes will be distributed to all students. 
    3. One parent wanted to share that the PTC is planning another Movie Night due to the success of the first Movie Night of the year. The tentative date is Friday, March 6, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm and families will be offered the opportunity to vote on the movie through Parent Square.
    4. There were three public comments. 
  6. PRINCIPAL REPORT
    1. The vice principal shared information about the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) evening session that will be hosted at Wilson Elementary’s cafeteria on February 11, 2020 at 6:00 pm. He emphasized that this is the forum to attend in order to advocate for services for our students and to address any needs. There will be information about the Measure N bond and updates about improvements that are taking place.
    2. The vice principal also shared the importance of having people take the California Healthy Kids Survey. The Parent Facilitator Angelica Franco has helped offer access for families to complete this in the mornings in the main hallway using school Chromebooks.
    3. The vice principal also mentioned that once we finalize on a Book and Blanket Night date, the event can be promoted through the Story Time weekly read aloud uploaded onto the Parent Square platform.     
  7. CHAIRPERSON REPORT
    1. To address the interest for the Book and Blanket Night event, two dates were highlighted as options: Thursday, March 19th and Thursday, March 26th. Vice principal Gause created and sent out a Google form survey asking for staff input and a date preference.
    2. For Book and Blanket Night, ideas to reach out to extend the invite to a San Leandro librarian to attend the event and give a brief presentation about resources and programs they offer were brought up. Wendy Hung volunteered to reach out to see if this would be possible. 
    3. Math Night will be considered for next year’s goals and possible plans to be worked into the budget. 
    4. After school enrichment programs are underway. Possibilities about including a program catered to math next year is of interest.
  8. PRESENTATIONS ON SINGLE PLAN FOR STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AND RELEVANT DATA
    1. The report is available on the agenda and can be printed for members.

    1. A motion to adjourn was made by Wendy Hung. The motion was seconded by Maurice Gause.
    2. The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 pm.

A.一位家長想宣布有關家長教師委員會（PTC）是如何批准$100的學術資金給Wilson的每一位老師的計劃。但在34位教師中，只有25位成功提交了申請。她要求採取跟進，找出剩下的老師是誰，以便可以指導他們與PTC聯繫，以便更新分發名單並幫助處理這些資金。

  1. 一位家長分享將於2020年2月7日星期五早上，咖啡聊天家庭和行政部門的合作下舉    行的農曆新年慶祝活動。將會有金龍來拜訪，並在學校班室“遊行”，向所有學生分發紅包。
  2. 一位家長與大家分享，由於今年的第一個電影之夜的成功，PTC正在計劃另一個電影之夜。暫定日期為2020年3月6日（星期五）下午6：00-8：00，家長有機會通過家長廣場對選播的電影進行投票。

VI.校長報告

A.副校長分享了有關本地控制和責任計劃（LCAP）晚上會議的信息，該會議將於2020年2月11日下午6:00在Wilson小學的餐廳舉行。他強調說，這是一個表達意見的會議，改善我們為學生提供的服務並滿足任何需要。將提供有關N債券提案的信息，以及有關正在進行的修繕進展。

B.副校長還分享了填寫“加州健康兒童調查”的重要性。家長聯絡員Angelica Franco幫助家庭在早上使用Chromebook在走廊上完成填寫。

C.副校長還提到，一旦我們確定了“書和毯子之夜”的日期，就可以通過每週上載到 Parent Square平台上的朗讀故事時間來推廣該活動。

  1.               主席報告

 A.為了滿足對書和毯子之夜活動，有兩個日期作為選擇：3月19日星期四 或3月26日星期四。副校長Gause創建並發送了Google問卷調查，要求員工提供意見和日期選擇。

B.在“書和毯子之夜”活動中，提出了邀請San Leandro圖書館員來到活動的想法，介紹他們所提供的資源和計劃。Wendy Hung自願去做接觸，看看是否有可能。

C.數學之夜將被考慮是明年的目標，和可能納入預算的計劃。

D.課後充實活動計劃正在進行中。包含明年的數學。
